The China Division of the Organizing Committee of  Cambodia Asian Film Festival Officially Opens Its Permanent Office in Fuzhou

On September 22, 2025, the office of the China Division of Cambodia Asian Film Festival Organizing Committee opened in the Shangxiahang Historical and Cultural Block of Fuzhou. This marks Cambodia’s first permanent long-term venue in China dedicated to film cultural exchange and exhibition. It also represents tangible progress made by the Silk Road International Film Festival in building a collaborative platform for the film industry under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Zhang Yan, Member of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department; Wang Jiannan, Executive Deputy Director of the Fujian Provincial Party Committee Publicity Department and Director of the Fujian Provincial Film Bureau; Huang Jianxiong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Publicity Department; H.E. Hub Touch, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia; Norodom Jenna, Member of the Cambodian Royal Family; and Hong Li, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of Cambodia Asian Film Festival.

In his welcome address, Director Huang Jianxiong stated that Fuzhou, a pivotal city along the Maritime Silk Road, has long committed itself to cultural exchange and cooperation between China and foreign nations. Since establishing sister-city ties with Siem Reap in 2019, the two sides have jointly hosted events including the China-Cambodia Film & Cultural Exchange Week, yielding fruitful outcomes. The settlement of the CAFF Organizing Committee’s China Division will serve as a brand-new platform to deepen bilateral film industry cooperation and facilitate mutual learning between civilizations and people-to-people bonds of the two countries.

In his speech, H.E. Hub Touch, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia noted that his ministry has consistently championed international cultural cooperation. He spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation achieved since the Silk Road International Film Festival and the Cambodia Asian Film Festival forged a Sister Festival partnership back in 2019. He added that the newly inaugurated China Division will act as a vital bridge for filmmakers from both nations to communicate and collaborate, injecting fresh impetus into the development of the Belt and Road film industry.

During the inauguration ceremony, H.E. Hub Touch, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia presented Hong Li, Chairperson of Cambodia Asian Film Festival, with an official certificate appointing her Special Advisor to the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia, in recognition of her outstanding contributions to advancing China-Cambodia film and cultural exchange.

By hosting collaborative exchange events for the Belt and Road film industry, the 12th Silk Road International Film Festival has continuously expanded its international partnership network and built pragmatic channels for industrial collaboration. The official settlement of the CAFF China Division enriches the international cooperation portfolio of the Silk Road International Film Festival, offers solid support for building a Belt and Road film ecosystem, and will elevate film cooperation between China and ASEAN countries to new heights.
