Delegation from the Cinema and Cultural Diffusion Department of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia Visits the National Film Administration of China


On June 11, Borak Pok, Director of the Cinema and Cultural Diffusion Department of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia; Houy Socheat, Chief of the General Office of the Film Department; and Yok Sombunle, Cultural and Tourism Counsellor of the Royal Embassy of Cambodia in China, paid an official visit to the National Film Administration of China and held talks with relevant officials of the Administration. Hong Li, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of Cambodia Asian Film Festival, accompanied the delegation throughout the meeting.

 

2024 marks the Year of China-Cambodia People-to-People Exchanges. Film and cultural exchanges serve as a powerful channel to build a comprehensive people-to-people exchange network between the two countries. This meeting was held to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the film industry, explore diversified cooperation opportunities, advance mutual learning between the two civilizations, and strengthen friendship and mutual understanding among Chinese and Cambodian people.

 

During the discussion, Pao Bora briefed the Chinese side on the current development of Cambodia's film industry. He expressed Cambodia's aspiration to bolster industrial cooperation with China and jointly advance the development of cinema in both nations.

 

Relevant officials of the National Film Administration of China extended a warm welcome to Director Borak Pok and his delegation. They stated that China stands ready to deepen film industry collaboration with Cambodia, jointly tackle industry challenges, and achieve mutually beneficial results.

 

Both sides voiced strong enthusiasm for in-depth official cooperation on film festivals. They agreed to co-host film week events in the future and vigorously advance the market-oriented and industrialized development of the film sectors in China and Cambodia.

 

Following the meeting, Director Borak Pok met with renowned Chinese actress Hao Lei. He expressed sincere gratitude for her outstanding contributions as Jury President of the 1st Cambodia Asian Film Festival. He formally invited Hao Lei to join the Executive Committee Office of Cambodia Asian Film Festival as a committee member and personally presented her with an honorary plaque.

Hao Lei expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia for its trust in her. She stated that she would leverage her professional expertise to contribute to the dissemination of Asian film culture. It is reported that this marks Hao Lei's first participation in film festival activities as a member of the Festival Executive Committee Office.
