Jury President | Tran Anh Hung (France)

Vietnamese-French director and screenwriter, a landmark figure of Vietnam’s New Wave cinema.

His debut feature The Scent of Green Papaya took the film world by storm in 1993, winning the Caméra d’Or and Award of the Youth at the 46th Cannes Film Festival, and securing an Oscar Best Foreign Language Film nomination representing France. In 1995, his second feature Cyclo, starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai, claimed the Golden Lion, the highest honor of the 52nd Venice Film Festival. In 2023, he earned the Best Director Award at the 76th Cannes Film Festival for The Taste of Things. His films consistently explore the subtle interplay between visuals and emotions, spanning serene oriental aesthetics, gritty grassroots realism and refined French romance to form a distinctive artistic spectrum.

Tran Anh Hung has served on juries for numerous renowned international festivals including Cannes, Venice, Tokyo and Shanghai International Film Festival, endowed with profound artistic discernment and cross-cultural vision.

Cha Seung-jae (South Korea)

South Korean film producer and educator, hailed as the "Godfather of Korean Cinema".

In 1995, he founded Sidus, South Korea’s leading comprehensive entertainment group, a pivotal driving force behind the industrialization and internationalization of Korean cinema. His iconic producer credits include classics etched in Korean film history: Memories of Murder, A Moment to Remember and Once Upon a Time in High School. He has held key posts including President of the Korean Film Producers Association and Dean of the Graduate School of Image Arts at Dongguk University, and was awarded the Silver Crown Order of Cultural Merit of South Korea. A frequent jury member for the Busan International Film Festival and Asian Film Awards, he is one of the architects of Korean cinema’s golden age.

Chen Yu (China)

Renowned Chinese screenwriter, director and Professor at the School of Arts, Peking University.

He pioneered the theory of "Narrative Dynamics", introducing scientific narrative logic into filmmaking. He has collaborated three times with Zhang Yimou as the screenwriter of Snipers, Full River Red and Under the Light, whose combined box office totals exceed 6.5 billion RMB. Full River Red topped the 2023 Spring Festival box office charts, while Under the Light was adapted from his original story. In 2024, he sat on the jury of the Golden Rooster Film Venture Market.

Edmund Yeo (Malaysia)

Malaysian director, screenwriter and producer splitting his creative practice between Japan and Malaysia, celebrated for lyrical, painterly visual aesthetics in his works.

In 2009, his Japanese-language short Kingyo competed at the Venice Film Festival, making him the youngest Malaysian director ever selected for the festival’s official competition. His 2010 short film Inhalation won the Best Asian Short Film Award at the Busan International Film Festival. In 2014, his feature River of Exploding Durians earned a nomination for Best Film in the Main Competition of the 27th Tokyo International Film Festival. In 2017, he took home the Best Director Award at the 30th Tokyo International Film Festival for We the Dead, becoming the first Malaysian director to receive this accolade. He has served on juries for the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Shanghai International Film Festival, among others.

Huoy Socheat (Cambodia)

Deputy Director of the Department of Cinema and Cultural Diffusion of Culture and Fine Arts of Cambodia.

He has long dedicated himself to advancing Cambodia’s local film industry while working as a documentary filmmaker, boasting dual expertise in policy formulation and creative production. In 2024, he served as a jury member for the National Short Film Festival of Cambodia, actively discovering local film talents and refining industry standards.
